Mosquitos can be found in each of the 50 states.
Mosquitos are a common pest and nuisance to anyone who enjoys the outdoors.
Mosquitos have four life stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Adult females take in a blood meal before reproducing and lay their eggs in standing water. The egg hatches and remains in the water until its adult stage.
Mosquitos can live almost anywhere but prefer moist, grassy areas. They must have standing water available to reproduce.
When mosquitos are in search of a blood meal any warm blooded mammal will do. Mosquito bites develop into red, itchy welts, but more importantly, they can transmit the West Nile virus and other diseases.
Keep areas free of weeds and brush. Eliminate any standing water in the area. Mosquitos can quickly overwhelm a backyard and a professional pest control agency should be called to keep their numbers to a minimum.
