Oriental Cockroaches can be found in all 50 states.

Although Oriental cockroaches have wings, they cannot fly. They reproduce much more slowly than other species of cockroach.

Habits
The Oriental cockroach is sometimes called the “water bug” because it is often seen coming from its favorite haunt: water pipes. It thrives on filth and moisture, making sewers a favorite home. They prefer cooler temperatures compared to other types of cockroach.

Habitat
In the outdoors, Oriental cockroaches live in leaf and refuse piles. They enter homes through pipes and will live in cool basements and damp crawl spaces.

Threats
Oriental cockroaches crawl through sewage and then onto food. They carry and spread parasites, human pathogens, and bacteria.

Prevention
Make sure any entry points at ground level are sealed. Place screens over drains and pipes or cap them when possible. Keep moist refuse away from your home or business. Oriental cockroaches can be difficult to get rid of, often making it necessary to call a professional pest control agency.
