Pavement ants are tiny, two-segmented body ants commonly found in business and residential areas, especially near sidewalks or other pavement.

Habits
These ants send out foraging parties to bring back food. Pavement ants will eat nearly any food consumed by humans.

Habitat
As their name suggests, pavement ants prefer to build colonies near sidewalks, pavement or block home foundations.

Threats
Pavement ants look for warmth and moisture in extreme weather. Homes are especially inviting during certain times of year. They can quickly overrun a kitchen and contaminate food. Although they can sting and bite, the bites are not serious.

Prevention
Seal off small crack where pavement ants can enter your home with caulk. Be sure to clean up food spills immediately. Store food in airtight containers. Ant colonies can be challenging to destroy and it is best to call a professional to assist you.
